LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS INITIATIVE
Pakistan is in the midst of a climate catastrophe. It is clear that the climate crisis is the Global South’s present, not the Global North’s future.
Relief and rehabilitation efforts are critical to respond to the mass destruction, but how do we address the issue at its root?
How do we make sure resources are not squandered and affected communities are adequately compensated and rehabilitated? How do we make sure there is national level preparedness for future disasters? How do we sync our struggle with global struggles so we can begin to shift the global discourse on climate change.
For all of this, we need to more effectively organize around Climate Change.
This Training of Trainers Program is an effort to enhance our capacity for collective action around Climate Change.
WHAT WILL THE TRAINING TEACH?
This is Pakistan’s first Leadership, Organizing, and Action training that draws from the work of celebrated civil rights organizer Marshall Ganz’s highly popular course at Harvard University.
The framework remains alive and evolving, constantly being applied and adapted by the organizers around the world. It has been taught online around the world for over 11 years.
This 5-day online course offers participants the opportunity to learn five leadership practices of organizing:
How to articulate a story of why you were called to lead, a story of those whom you hope to mobilize, and a story of action: self, us, and now.
How to build intentional relationships as the foundation of purposeful collective action.
How to structure your team with shared purpose, ground rules, and roles for effective leadership.
How to strategize turning your resources into the power to achieve clear goals.
How to translate strategy into measurable, motivational, and effective action.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TRAINING?
This is the first step of the TEACHING CERTIFICATION IN ORGANIZING. Upon successful completion of this course, you become an AKTIVASIA ASSOCIATE, and will be offered opportunities to coach and train in future workshops with us.
